Knee operation for midfielder

Mansfield Town midfielder Lee Bell will miss the rest of 2007 due to a knee injury. Bell has undergone a minor operation on his knee following an injury suffered in the recent 0-0 draw at home to Bradford City. He is likely to require three weeks on the sidelines, ruling the 24-year-old out of the club's busy Christmas programme. Stags physio Paul Madin told the club's official website: "Lee had an arthroscopy operation on his knee last Saturday to remove a small piece of cartilage. "It was only minor and we were pleased with how it went. He will be out for around three weeks." Since joining League Two's bottom club from Crewe Alexandra in the summer, Bell has made 17 appearances in all competitions.
