Sheffield United's transfer-listed striker Paul Shaw has been linked with a return to Championship rivals Gillingham.

The 30-year-old joined The Blades for an undisclosed fee back in January.

However, following talks this week with Bramall Lane boss Neil Warnock, the former Millwall hit-man has been placed on the transfer list after an unsuccessful spell last season in South Yorkshire.

Despite having two years to run on his contract with The Blades, Shaw has been allowed to look for pastures new - with a return to The Priestfield Stadium a possibility.

The news comes as The Gills take a look at trialists Kevin Barallon, Matt Bodkin and Patrick Ada Omgba, with manager Andy Hessenthaler expected to make a decision on the trio by the end of this week.

One player who is not in line for a move to Gills is former Coventry City defender Dean Gordon.

The player was one of nine to be axed by The Sky Blues at last season's end and there were suggestions the Gordon was in pre-season training with Hessenthaler's side, but the Gills boss has refuted those rumours.

"It's news to me," Hessenthaler told the club's official website.

"I don't know where people get these ideas from. We've had no contact with Dean Gordon and I don't expect to."

Gordon, meanwhile, has been in training with Scottish Premier League side Hibernian this pre-season.
