Sky Sports understands former Everton youngster Grant Kerr is hoping to win a move back to the UK.
Kerr is currently plying his trade Norway with Tonsberg after joining the club on loan and the 26-year-old is thought to have a clause in his contract which means he could leave on a free transfer this year.
Norwegian duo Lillestrom and Ullensaker-Kisa have expressed an interest in Kerr, but the midfielder has his sights set on a return to the UK.
St Johnstone expressed an interest in taking Kerr on trial, but his spell at McDiarmid Park was cut short by illness.
A number of League One and League Two clubs are thought to be monitoring Kerr's situation and the midfielder is thought to be willing to go in on trial to try and secure a move.
Kerr's agent, Scott Robertson, has confirmed he is assessing options for the midfielder with the Scot keen to return to these shores.
"Grant is hoping to return to the UK and find himself a new club," Robertson told Sky Sports.
"He has rejected offers from some Norwegian clubs as he feels the time is right to come back to the UK.
"I will be speaking to a number of clubs about Grant and then we will sit down and see what is the best option for him."
