Davies rejects new deal for personal reasons

Derby County have put Steve Davies, James Bailey, Miles Addison, Lee Croft and Chris Maguire up for sale at Pride Park. Davies has been placed on the transfer list after turning down the offer of a new three-year deal for personal reasons. Rams boss Nigel Clough insists there has been no fall-out with Davies and that they will let the forward move on for the right price. "There's no falling out with Steven, no disagreement about money, no lack of ambition by the club or anything like that," Clough told the club's official website. "He has genuine reason why he has turned the offer down and it's one that we accept and understand. People might be sceptical about this news but we completely respect Steven's decision. "He's available for transfer and if a bid comes in which matches our valuation, then we'll move on and wish Steven and his family all the very best."

Departures

Sky Sports revealed last week Derby were willing to listen to offers for highly-rated midfielder Bailey and Clough confirmed the former Crewe man can move on as he will not be a regular in his first-team plans next season. Addison, Maguire and Croft, who all had spells on loan away from Pride Park last term, will also be allowed to depart on a permanent basis. "Miles, Lee and James have a year left on their deals, so it makes good sense from that point of view to get a fee in if we can for them. Miles, Chris and Lee barely featured for us last season and moving forwards are unlikely to, while in James' case he hasn't done anything wrong it's just that he's going to find it very hard to break up the Bryson-Hendrick midfield pairing we have," added Clough.
