Scotland boss Craig Levein has called up St Johnstone midfielder Murray Davidson to face Brazil.

Turner, Cowie & Crainey also included in squad to face Brazil

Scotland boss Craig Levein has called up St Johnstone midfielder Murray Davidson for the friendly against Brazil. Davidson, Watford midfielder Don Cowie, Blackpool left-back Stephen Crainey and Everton goalkeeper Iain Turner have been added to the squad following last month's victory over Northern Ireland. Turner, Davidson and Blackburn defender Grant Hanley are the only three uncapped players in the squad. Sunderland goalkeeper Craig Gordon has been included in the squad despite struggling with a knee injury. Levein believes playing against a team like Brazil will provide the likes of Davidson with invaluable experience.

Experience

"There are 24 players in this squad and it's fairly obvious not all are going to play. "Some of the younger ones are here for experience. I feel this is a game that has such excitement, that it would be great for some of the younger players to come along and experience the occasion. "Murray is one of those. I'm not saying Murray won't take part in the game but he is more along to gain experience." Levein was remaining coy in his bid to try and persuade Wigan midfielder James McCarthy to switch allegiance from Republic of Ireland to Scotland. McCarthy has been named in the Republic of Ireland squad for a Euro 2012 qualifier against Macedonia. However, having only played one friendly for the full Republic team, against Brazil, he could still switch unless he plays a competitive game. "James isn't in this squad. At this minute of time he hasn't played a competitive match for Ireland, if he does play a competitive international for Ireland, that will be it," added Levein. "I don't want to sit down at this particular juncture and talk about James McCarthy." Scotland face Brazil at the Emirates Stadium on 27th March. Full squad: Gordon (Sunderland), McGregor (Rangers), Turner (Everton); Bardsley (Sunderland), Berra (Wolverhampton Wanderers), G Caldwell (Wigan), Crainey (Blackpool), Hanley (Blackburn Rovers), Hutton (Tottenham), Whittaker (Rangers), D Wilson (Liverpool), M Wilson (Celtic); Adam (Blackpool), Bannan (Aston Villa), Brown (Celtic), Commons (Celtic), Cowie (Watford), Davidson (St Johnstone), McArthur (Wigan Athletic), Morrison (West Brom); Maguire (Aberdeen), Miller (Bursaspor), Naismith (Rangers), Snodgrass (Leeds United)
