Burnley manager Owen Coyle insists that he won't let himself get caught up in the row with Sheffield Wednesday over Marcus Tudgay.
The Clarets had a £1.5million bid for the forward turned down earlier on Wednesday with the Owls calling the offer 'derisory'.
However Wednesday chairman Lee Strafford has now accused the Premier League club of using 'underhand and disrespectful' tactics.
Strafford believes that the Clarets, along with the player's agent, have tried to unsettle the 26-year-old although Coyle denies any such notion.
"What Sheffield Wednesday say is entirely up to them," he said. "I am not going to get caught up in anything negative about their club.
"They are a fantastic club, steeped in history and tradition. We made an offer of £1.5million, plus add-ons, for Marcus Tudgay. That was inviting - it was rejected.
"At no time have we looked to unsettle the player. We made what we thought was a fair offer for a player who has only a year to go on his contract.
"It was turned down - Sheffield Wednesday felt fit to do that. I have no problem with that. If they want to say anything to besmirch the good name of Burnley that is entirely up to them.
"I am not going to get caught up in tit for tat. We know how we work. I have never had a problem with anyone else."
Signings
Coyle has however managed to sign two young full-backs in Manchester United's Richard Eckersley and Hamilton's Brian Easton.
Eckersley was all set to join QPR on loan for the upcoming season but when he heard of Burnley's interest he quickly changed his mind.
"They are a big club," he said. "But it was a no-brainer when Burnley came, because I want to perform in the Premier League.
"I like the way Burnley play, they pass and move, and I am looking to get some games under my belt."
Meanwhile, Easton is preparing himself for a difficult first season in the top flight but is confident his new team can cope.
"I have a bit of experience in that respect now, so I hope I can help Burnley if needed," he declared.
"I think the boys will handle the situation superbly, because they are all down to earth. Everyone knows they face a hard task and are ready for it."
