Spain striker poised to complete move to Manchester City

With Alvaro Negredo on course to join Manchester City, we look at the career of the Spain international striker. 1985: Born August 20, Madrid. 2001: Signs a youth contract with Rayo Vallecano. 2004: Signs professional terms and graduates to Rayo Vallecano B. Scores 14 goals in 15 games before being moved to the first team in 2005. 2005: Makes his professional debut for Rayo Vallecano in the Spanish third division. Scores one goal in his only season for the first team. August - Moves to Real Madrid development side, Real Madrid Castilla on a free transfer. 2007: Negredo played for the development side for two years, scoring 18 goals in his last season as Castilla were relegated to the third tier of Spanish football. In that time, he was selected for a handful of Spanish Cup games by Fabio Capello, but remained an unused substitute each time. Negredo later made his debut for Real Madrid in a friendly against Atletico Madrid. August - Moves to newly-promoted UD Almeria for around £2.5million. 2008: Scores a penalty against his former team as they won 2-0. Negredo finished his first season at Almeria as top scorer with 13 goals. 2009: July - After another successful season in which he scored 19 goals, Real Madrid opt to buy him back for £4.4million. August - After taking part in pre-season, Negredo is sold to Sevilla FC for £13.2million after being linked with a move to Hull. October 10 - Makes his international debut for Spain, coming on as a substitute against Armenia. October 14 - Scores his first goals for Spain in a 5-2 win away to Bosnia and Herzegovina. 2010: After scoring in his second game. The striker goes on a run of 12 league games without a goal but still manages to net 11 times in his debut season, as well as being sent off three times, including in the semi-final of the Copa del Rey for insulting an assistant referee. May 19 - Wins his first piece of silverware as Sevilla win the Copa del Rey, beating Atletico Madrid in the final. May 20 - Overlooked by Vicente del Bosque for Spain's victorious 2010 World Cup squad. 2011: Scores 27 goals in the 2010/11 season, and a further two goals for Spain. 2012: Scores 14 goals for Sevilla and a sixth international goal. May 28 - Is included in Spain's final squad for Euro 2012 and makes two appearances as they lift the trophy. 2013: Finishes the season with 25 goals as Sevilla end up in ninth. July 17 - After much speculation as to where Negredo will be playing next season, Sevilla announce he is to join Manchester City for £20million subject to a medical.
