The Tricks

The Tricks' Joel Hodge is the latest famous face to pick his dream five-a-side team in our new feature.

Our new feature continues as The Tricks' Joel Hodge picks his dream five-a-side team

Joel Hodge of The Tricks picks his dream five-a-side team... The Tricks' frontman Joel Hodge is a lifelong Manchester United supporter, so it's no great shock to see a pair of Red Devils legends in his dream five-a-side team. Perhaps slightly more surprising is the inclusion of a former Arsenal star up front although, as Hodge points out, it's a begrudging addition. The London-based band, who boast Johnny Depp among their fans, are currently busy getting ready to launch their new EP '49 Mercury' next month ahead of a seven-date UK tour. But Hodge found time to share his fantasy team with Sky Sports in our latest Take Five.
Peter Schmeichel
Obviously he's a Manchester United legend and was captain of that UEFA Champions League-winning team in 1999. He was just such a terrifying, commanding goalkeeper - he was huge! And he scored that goal once in the UEFA Cup. He's just an iconic keeper.
Paolo Maldini (captain)
I support AC Milan in Italian football as I had a good friend who was an Italian when I was growing up. He supported United with me and I followed Milan with him. I used to have a Maldini t-shirt when I was kid. I thought he was such a brilliant player and for such a long period he was one of the best defenders in the world. He got five European Cup titles and he didn't even retire until he was 41 or something. He was the ultimate professional. He's my captain without a doubt - his nickname was even 'The Captain'.
Zinedine Zidane
In Spain I support Real Madrid and though it's hard to choose in midfield because there are loads of Manchester United players I'd love to have, I think Zidane is just, if not the best, then in the top five players of my generation, since I've been watching football.
Ryan Giggs
He's my favourite player ever. When I first started watching football, when I was five or six, he'd just come into the Manchester United team and he was so young and exciting. He changed the way that I looked at football because he's such a great player to watch. And he's still going now! The whole of my Manchester United sporting life, he's been there the whole time. I think he's probably got another few seasons in him - it's all about the yoga! I even have a framed picture of Giggs' face on my wall in my flat in London. That's how much I love him.
Thierry Henry
This is a hard one because at United we've had Eric Cantona, who I absolutely love, and people like Mark Hughes. But actually I'm going to go for Henry, although it's a bit begrudging. I think he had the highest scoring ratio the Premier League has ever had, but then he wasn't a goal poacher, he wasn't like Alan Shearer or Michael Owen in his prime. Henry scored goals where he picked the ball up in his own half, and that's what I found so incredible about him. He's so technically gifted. Five songs Joel would have on in the dressing room to fire up his side... Dropkick Murphys - I'm Shipping Up To Boston Klaxons - Atlantis to Interzone Fat Les - Vindaloo (Joel adds: "It's a great football song, but that lyric 'we're gonna score one more than you', that's not very ambitious is it? Surely you'd want to win by more than one goal?") Eminem - Lose Yourself The Tricks - 49 Mercury The Tricks will release their debut 7" vinyl EP '49 Mercury' on 5th November through Unison Music group. Visit their official website.
