Blackburn boss welcomes arrival of 'exciting player'

Blackburn boss Steve Kean believes the loan signing of Anthony Modeste from Bordeaux will help Rovers' battle against the drop. The 23-year-old forward, who has represented France at under-21 level, has joined the Ewood Park side on a deal until the end of the season, as first revealed by Sky Sports on Thursday. Rovers are still waiting for international clearance to enable Modeste to be considered for Saturday's Premier League match at Everton. Modeste joined Bordeaux from Nice in the summer of 2010, having impressed in a loan spell with second-tier Angers prior to making the move to Bordeaux.

Exciting player

He struck 10 goals in 37 Ligue 1 games in the 2010-11 campaign for Les Girondins and has scored three in 15 appearances during the current season. "He's an attacking player who very much likes to play on the shoulder of central defenders," Rovers boss Steve Kean told Blackburn Rovers TV. "He's got pace, he's got power, and he is technically very good. He can get a goal and he can link the play, so I think he's an exciting player. Like most French players he has got good technical ability and he can play with his head up. "He knows Steven N'Zonzi very well, and Steven can help settle him in. If we can get (the international clearance) done, there is no reason why he can't be involved this weekend."
