Edson Braafheid looks set to leave Utrecht after contracts talks were halted.
The 23-year-old is one of the club's brightest talents and they have been striving to tie him down to a new deal for some time.
Braafheid's agent informed the club his client wanted to wait until the start of next year before discussing his future, but this did not sit well with Utrecht who have decided to end the talks.
"He probably thinks differently about the future than us," Utrecht coach Foeke Booy told the club's website. "So our ways part.
"What this means on a sporting level, I cannot tell yet. FC Utrecht have to continue."
