Caley keen to extend loan deals

Inverness boss Terry Butcher is looking to extend loan deals for David Davis, Roman Golobart and Aidan Chippendale until the end of the season.

Wolves midfielder Davis has been an influential component in Caley Thistle's attempts to move away from the bottom of the Scottish Premier League, while Wigan defender Golobart has improved significantly after a difficult start and scored in a 2-1 win over Aberdeen on Saturday. Huddersfield winger Chippendale has only made one start and is still about two weeks away from returning from a hamstring injury but he too has done enough to convince Butcher to attempt to retain his services. Butcher, whose side face Hibernian at Easter Road on Wednesday night, said: "I can't add to the squad unless someone goes out. "If I can get my three loans to stay then I will do. "That will hopefully be done in the first week in January." Butcher's side have yet to win consecutive games this season but he has challenged them to follow up the win over Aberdeen against Hibernian - and St Johnstone on Monday. "Having lost at home to Hibs in the second game of the season, we want to get revenge and go on a good run," he said. "We said last season little runs would be good. Three, four of five wins can pick you up the table. "We have never had any spurts this season. We have been choked more than anything else. "Playing against Hibs then St Johnstone, it is three big games. We said Christmas and New Year we were looking for maximum points and see where that takes us." Hibs are looking to take their first points under Pat Fenlon but Butcher is determined to extend a four-point gap. "Hibs have good players and are getting to know what their manager is all about," he said. "They are below us but it's still a league where teams can get a run and get back up the table, but can easily be dragged back in. "We're looking to get away from Dunfermline and Hibs and looking to climb the league." The July defeat by Hibs, when Garry O'Connor scored the only goal in the closing moments, still rankles Butcher. "We thought they were very fortunate to get three points," the former Motherwell manager said. "We should have had at least one penalty from three very strong appeals. "We know that game has gone and we have to let it go but we still feel we have had hardly any luck this season. "Sometimes you have to make your own luck and give yourself every chance."
