Wigan defender accepts chance of first-team football

Inverness Caledonian Thistle have completed the capture of Wigan Athletic defender Roman Golobart on loan until January. The 19-year-old Spaniard, who stands at 6ft 4in and can also play centre forward, joined the Latics in July 2009 and signed a contract extension in May 2010. Golobart could go straight into the Inverness squad for Saturday's Scottish Premier League match with Aberdeen at Pittodrie. Caley Thistle boss Terry Butcher said: "The recent spate of injuries has shown how stretched our pool is and I'm pleased that the board have given approval to extend the budget to bring in another player. "Roman is a huge lad and we're delighted to welcome him to Inverness to help bring out his potential." Wigan manager Roberto Martinez added: "He goes with all our good wishes, hopefully Roman will be able to gain some invaluable experience of playing first-team football and in Terry Butcher he will have a hugely experienced coach who has played and managed at the highest level. "I know he will be a great ambassador for the club and for himself."
