Ehret plans summer exit when contract expires
Cologne have signed a new contract with full-back Christian Eichner until June 2013.
The 28-year-old's previous deal was set to expire at the end of the current campaign after he only arrived on a six-month agreement in January.
Since that time, Eichner has emerged as a first-team regular at Cologne and the club's general manager, Volker Finke, is therefore happy with the extension.
Finke told the club's
official website: "Christian Eichner had been a January signing and he turned out to be a key figure in our first team within his first few months at our club.
"We are delighted to have now him tied to the club for a longer period of time."
Meanwhile, Cologne wing-back Fabrice Ehret, 31, has indicated that he is not going to stay at the club after his contract expires in the summer.
Ehret said in a statement on his
official website: "I have been at Cologne almost exactly five years and it seems we will soon be heading in different directions.
"Sometimes you always arrive at a point to bid farewell. This has now edged closer."
