Reigning Copa del Rey champions Real Madrid are safely through to the quarter-finals of this season's competition after disposing of Malaga.

Elsewhere, Real Mallorca staged a dramatic second leg fight back to book their place in the last eight, where they will be joined by Mirandes.

A repeat of last season's final could be on the cards in the next round, with Real Madrid waiting to see whether Barcelona will set up a Clasico cup encounter.

Real are already through after wrapping up a 4-2 aggregate success over Malaga with a narrow 1-0 win on the road on Tuesday.

Karim Benzema grabbed the only goal of the game for Jose Mourinho's men after 72 minutes, but the night would end on a low note for Los Blancos.

Alvaro Arbeloa was shown a second yellow card two minutes from time and he must now serve a suspension.

Fight back

Real Mallorca entered the second leg of their clash with Real Socieded trailing 2-0, but they are heading through after picking up a remarkable 6-1 win on home soil.

Diego Ifran opened the scoring on the night, seeing Socieded stretch their lead.

Four goals in the space of seven first half minutes turned the tie on its head, though, with Gonzalo Castro setting the hosts on their way after 34 minutes.

Tomer Hemed doubled their lead two minutes later, Jose Nunes headed home from a corner and Castro was on target again shortly after.

The goal rush continued after the interval, with Alejandro Alfaro netting his first of the game and Hemed his second.

Fairytale

Pablo Infante was the hero for Mirandes once again as they saw off Racing Santander.

A 1-1 draw was enough to keep the third tier outfit's cup dreams alive.

Pedro Munitis had Racing in front in the first half, offering them hope, but a red card for Bernando left them facing an uphill struggle.

Infante won and converted a late penalty to ensure Mirandes' fairytale adventure continues.
