Raith ended their four-match Scottish First Division winless streak with a 1-0 victory at Hamilton, thanks to Allan Walker's first-half strike.
Walker volleyed home from close range on the stroke of half-time to secure the three points for the visitors after Steven May had fired wide in the 38th minute with Hamilton's best chance.
Rovers also missed a golden chance to take the lead when Brian Graham failed to make a proper connection from Walker's 42nd-minute corner.
And the corner-taker scored what proved to be the winner by volleying into the roof of the net from close range after good work from Greig Spence.
Pat Clarke and Brian Graham both missed a whipped Jason Thomson cross as the visitors pressed for a second but it was Academical's Stevie May who almost struck a late equaliser after hitting the side netting from 20 yards and firing wide late on.
