Aldershot's Ben Herd has hailed the impact manager Dean Holdsworth and his assistant Matthew Bishop have had on the club.

The full-back singled out the Shots' boss for particular praise in handling players rejected by bigger clubs as the club hope to build on this season's mid-table finish in League Two. "A lot of players, such as myself, have been rejected from bigger clubs and sometimes you come as damaged goods," the 25-year-old players' Player of the Season told the club's official website. "The gaffer has come in with a philosophy that he is not a bawler or a shouter. "He will have a go at you if you are not doing the right things but as long as you give him everything in training and in games then you cannot ask for more than that. "We want to take that on to next season. We finished the season on a high but we must continue that work ethic. We have to aim higher and must look to improve."
