Nicholls set for Exeter move

Northampton have confirmed forward Alex Nicholls is leaving the club, with Exeter his likely destination.

The 27-year-old, whose contract with the Cobblers expires on Wednesday, has spent time on loan with the Grecians this season and is now expected to pen an 18-month deal. Nicholls, who suffered a broken leg in 2012, signed a six-month contract with Northampton last summer after battling back to fitness. Speaking on his impending departure, Northampton boss Chris Wilder told the club's website: "Alex is obviously playing regular football down there (Exeter). "He did fantastically well to get back from an horrific injury and he needs to be playing football. "He's found a home there so I'm sure he'll sign there permanently and I wish Alex all the best."
