Hargreaves points to team talk

Chris Hargreaves admits he 'lost the plot' at half-time of Torquay's Devon derby victory over Exeter.

The Gulls were 45 minutes away from relegation from the Football League at the break but they flew out of the traps after Hargreaves' team talk and goals from Courtney Cameron and Ashley Yeoman gave them a 2-1 win and a slim chance of survival. And Hargreaves, a former youth-team coach at St James Park, revealed why he was so animated. "There were some raised voices at half-time because I was just unhappy with some of the decisions we were making," he explained. "Because we have got good players and we want to play football and not just lump it. "We have come to a club where the philosophy through the academy is to play football and we've been the better team by a long way on the deck - that is a fact. "But we were playing in the wrong areas at times and that is why I lost the plot. We are not in the final rounds of the Champions League, we were trying to Cruyff turn on the edge of our own 18-yard box. I want us to do it in the final third. "I just said a few things. I didn't want my family in the stand to watch us whither. And I dont think we did, they were excellent in the second half. "There was a massive response but it is only a glimmer (of hope) but it is better than being stood here saying they've sent us down."
