Tisdale praises Bennett

Exter boss Paul Tisdale has hailed Scot Bennett after the makeshift striker helped see off arch-rivals Plymouth in the Devon derby.

With forwards Sam Parkin and John O'Flynn sidelined, Bennett - usually seen in the Grecians' midfield or defence - led the line against the Pilgrims and his hard-working display was capped off with the game's final goal. "I'm so pleased for him because he did put a big shift in," Tisdale said. "His movement was brilliant. "At times he has a sort-of awkward running gait but he is fit, strong and has a real talent for moving at the right time. "With Parkin and O'Flynn, our two main strikers, out having someone like Scot who can do that for us has proved to be a real asset." Arron Davies' thumping drive and Alan Gow's wonderful curling effort looked to have given City a narrow 2-1 win until Bennett span Paul Wotton and rolled the ball into the bottom corner to put the icing on the cake. While their first two goals will be replayed over and over by City fans, Bennett's strike with seconds remaining was his manager's favourite. "All three goals were fabulous but the one which pleased me the most was Scot Bennett's," he explained. "Because of the calmness to stop in the box, there aren't many strikers who don't take the shot and stop the ball dead before doing what he did. "Arron Davies and Alan Gow; their goals were sublime and that was such a composed finish."
