Exeter manager Paul Tisdale claims he withdrew goalkeeper Artur Krysiak on Saturday because of injury.
Krysiak was the target of some fans' displeasure during the Grecians' 4-0 home defeat to Huddersfield on Saturday - a result which keeps Tisdale's side rooted to the foot of League One.
The shot-stopper was replaced by Lenny Pidgeley, whose name sections of the crowd had been singing during the first half, at the break. But Tisdale revealed after the game that Krysiak had suffered a knock during the opening period.
"Artur injured his hamstring with an early kick and it just kept getting worse and worse with every kick he had," the manager told the Western Morning News.
"The only decision was to take him off really because we couldn't risk it becoming very, very bad."
