On-loan defender Steven Caulker has returned to Tottenham for a scan on the hip he injured on Saturday.

Both Caulker and Ribeiro injured in FA Cup defeat

On-loan defender Steven Caulker has returned to Tottenham for a scan on the hip he injured on Saturday. The 19-year-old defender collided with Bristol City team-mate David James early on during the Robins' 3-0 FA Cup defeat by Sheffield Wednesday. Caulker had to be replaced after just nine minutes by Liam Fontaine but City boss Keith Millen is hopeful he will be in contention for Saturday's visit of Middlesbrough. "Steven is going for a scan back at Tottenham to assess the damage," he told the club's official website. "We hope it is not too bad and we will keep our fingers crossed. We should know more in the next 24-48 hours." Meanwhile, fellow defender Christian Ribeiro will have to wait for a scan on his hamstring problem. The 21-year-old Wales international was also forced off during Saturday's third-round tie. "We have got to wait for the swelling to go down a bit so it will be a few days before we can really assess the damage," Millen added.
