Holland can go a long way to securing a place at the World Cup finals in Brazil next summer with victory over Romania on Tuesday night.

Louis van Gaal's men are five points clear at the top of Group D with a 100 per cent record after five matches.

If they can extend that record to a sixth game they would move eight points clear of Romania with only Hungary posing any kind of threat to their hopes of finishing top of the pile.

Van Gaal is expecting an open game at the ArenA as they look to build on Friday's 3-0 defeat of Estonia.

"Romania is a difficult opponent. They play the same system as Estonia but with better individual players," he said.

"So I expect they will produce something more in attack, creating more space for us in front of them."

Romania defender Razvan Rat, who plays his club football for Shakhtar Donetsk, says his side must show more offensively if they are to keep their qualification hopes alive.

He said: "We will have to play well but a draw would be a good result for us.

"Therefore we will have to score at least once given the attacking force that Holland have."

Turkey can revive their hopes of a play-off spot with victory at home to Hungary.

Abdullah Avci's side lost the reverse fixture in October 3-1 as Hungary established themselves as the closest challengers to the Dutch.

But Friday's results - Turkey won 2-0 in Andorra while Hungary drew 2-2 with third-placed Romania - have closed things up towards the top of the table.

Turkey are four points behind the Hungarians and the Romanians and in position to make their move.

"It's obvious our opponent is strong and it was important for us to win on Friday before tomorrow's game," he said.

Estonia and Andorra meet in Tallinn with little at stake.

Andorra remain without a point or even a goal while Estonia have won just one game - 1-0 in Andorra in October.
