Portugal left-back Fabio Coentrao is out of his side's Euro 2012 qualifier against Norway on Tuesday night.
The 22-year-old Benfica defender injured his right thigh in Friday's opening qualifier with Cyprus, which ended in a 4-4 draw.
Coentrao caught the eye despite Portugal's disappointing World Cup campaign this summer, impressing with some excellent displays.
This is even though Carlos Quieroz's men crashed out 1-0 to neighbours Spain in the second round of the tournament, receiving criticism back home.
Coentrao underwent scans on Saturday following the Cyprus clash the previous night, and it was decided he would not play against Norway.
Portugal are going through a tough time at the moment, as coach Queiroz has been suspended for six months and star player Cristiano Ronaldo is currently injured.
