Czech Republic skipper Tomas Rosicky is a huge doubt for Thursday's Euro 2012 quarter-final, according to team manager Vladimir Smicer.
The Czechs will face Portugal in the last eight but it now looks like they will have to do so without their in-form playmaker.
Smicer revealed Rosicky has not been able to train for over a week due to an inflamed Achilles tendon.
And when asked for his verdict on whether Rosicky would start, he was not hopeful.
"Will he be able to play from the start? I don't think so," Smicer told the
CTK agency.
Tough match
"He hasn't trained for eight days, he's only been able to do some work on the bike.
"In order for him to play in such a tough match; he should at the very least have had three full training sessions in order to be 100 per cent ready."
Rosicky has been plagued by injuries over his career and had been a doubt for the tournament after he picked up a calf injury in Arsenal's final game of the season.
However, it would seem Rosicky is refusing to accept that he is out of the clash and has been in Prague receiving treatment on the injury, and has now re-joined his team-mates in Poland in a bid to prove his fitness.
"The decision as to whether he plays in the quarter-final will be taken after the official training session on Wednesday evening," said Czech spokesman Jaroslav Kolar.
