Luka Modric is raring to play for Croatia again after joining Real Madrid having been left out of the international side in August.

The midfielder was omitted from Igor Stimac's squad as he was not involved in pre-season action for Tottenham Hotspur and the coach was not happy.

Now Modric has completed his €40million (£33m) switch to Madrid and appeared twice for Real, the playmaker believes he is fit and ready to play.

"I am very happy and in good physical shape," he told index.hr.

"Now I am ready to play for 90 minutes but the coach will have to decide how much time I will have out there."

Modric last week made his Madrid debut when he came off the bench in the second leg of the Super Cup against Barcelona and his first league appearance at the weekend against Granada.

Croatia take on Macedonia and Belgium in their first two World Cup qualifiers and Modric is well aware that taking all six points will not be easy.

"Games against [Macedonia] are always difficult," he added. "But we will only be happy if we win both games."
