Australia coach Ange Postecoglou felt his side deserved more after going down to a 3-2 hard-fought defeat to Holland.
Australia saw their World Cup dreams ended after a thrilling World Cup Group B showdown in Rio with Holland coming from 2-1 to win 3-2 and take all three points.
It was Australia's second defeat after losing their opening group game to Chile and Postecoglou admitted the loss to Holland was "heartbreaking" after going so close to a famous victory.
"I put pressure on the players and the staff to go and get at the big teams," said Postecoglou. "Saying it and doing it two different things.
"But today they did that and they didn't get a reward. It's heartbreaking.
"Everyone was outstanding. For the majority of the game, we looked more likely to win than game than not."

New York Red Bulls forward and former Everton star Tim Cahill who scored one of the goals of the tournament with his equaliser and the player admitted the goal was a great moment for him.
"It's a great moment. Gowser (McGowan) crossed from the right, the ball was sitting beautifully," Cahill told ITV.
"It just felt so right to hit it. I hit it sweetly and it's what it's all about. Defining moments."
Cahill will miss Australia's final match with Spain through suspension, effectively ending his World Cup career, but the 34-year-old has no regrets despite a premature end to his tournament.
"It is what it is. I leave everything on the pitch," added Cahill
Cahill was proud of the display and feels they will have earned a lot of respect for their performance.
"It was an amazing performance," continued Cahill.
"We knew this was a chance. We thought we could win this game.
"We got close. We'll earn a lot of respect from today's game."
