Fletcher and Rooney return; Sahin strikes twice for Liverpool

Premier League sides Arsenal, Manchester United, Tottenham, Norwich and Reading all booked their places in the last 16 of the Capital One Cup. Arsenal made light work of their third round clash at the Emirates Stadium as they dispatched League One Coventry City 6-1. Olivier Giroud claimed his first goal for the club, although he also missed a second-half penalty. Further striker from Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Andrey Arshavin, Ignasi Miquel and a brace from Theo Walcott sealed the win - although Coventry did manage a consolation from Callum Bell. Tottenham also saw off League One opposition comfortably, beating Carlisle United 3-0 at Brunton Park. Belgian Jan Vertonghen put them ahead just before the break, and second-half goals from Andros Townsend and Glyfi Sigurdsson saw Andre Villas-Boas' men progress. Another League One side bowed out at Carrow Road as Norwich beat Doncaster Rovers 1-0 courtesy of Alexander Tettey's goal. Live on Sky Sports, Manchester United - who included both Wayne Rooney and Darren Fletcher from the start - beat Newcastle United 2-1 at Old Trafford. Anderson and a first goal for Manchester United from Tom Cleverley set the hosts on their way, although Sir Alex Ferguson's team had to withstand a nervy finish after Papiss Cisse came off the bench to claim his first of the season before later hitting the bar late on with a brilliant overhead kick. In another top-flight clash at Loftus Road, Reading came from behind to beat Queens Park Rangers by a 3-2 scoreline. Junior Hoilett put the home side ahead before former Hoops man Kaspars Gorkss levelled. Djibril Cisse then put QPR ahead again, but late strikes from Nicky Shorey and Pavel Pogrebnyak sent the Royals through. There was also a comeback victory at the Hawthorns, as Liverpool rallied from conceding an early goal to Gabriel Tamas to triumph 2-1 against West Brom. Nuri Sahin got both goals for the visitors, including a winner in the 82nd minute.
