Savidan: Settled

Steve Savidan has signed a contract extension with Ligue 1 outfit Caen.

The 31-year-old striker has broken into the France international fold of late and was the subject of much transfer talk during the winter window.

Lyon were reported to have expressed an interest in acquiring his services, but made no official approach.

Savidan insists he never wanted to leave Stade Malherbe and is delighted to have reached an agreement which will keep him at Caen until 2012.

"My new deal is the result of my good start to the season, my first French cap and my contact with Lyon," he said.

"It will allow me to remain in the same mindset as when I first joined Caen (last summer).

"The contract allows me to follow the career path I have always wanted. It allows me to settle at Caen.

"Lyon? I am not disappointed that it didn't happen because Caen didn't receive any offers."
