Hertha Berlin extended their lead at the top while the chasing pack are all level on 42 points following Saturday's Bundesliga action.

Andrey Voronin's hat trick saw Hertha Berlin extend their lead to four points at the top of the league after beating Cottbus 3-1.

The on-loan Liverpool striker equalised for the travelling side in the 34th minute after Gagdas Atlan gave Cottbus the lead on 21 minutes.

Voronin doubled his tally just before the half-time whistle before completing his hat-trick three minutes from time to dent Cottbus' survival hopes, who stay 16th.

Bayern Munich came from a goal down to beat Hannover 5-1 at home.

Jiri Stajner gave Bayern an early scare at the Allianz Arena when he gave Hannover the lead in the 15th minute following a fast break.

But Jurgen Klinsmann's side got back on level terms through Daniel van Buyten's 20th minute header, before striker Miroslav Klose put the hosts ahead five minutes later.

Midfielder Hamit Altintop (34), striker Lukas Podolski (73) and winger Martin Demichelis (88) secured the victory, moving Bayern up to second on goal difference.

Hoffenheim dropped points as their title bid stumbled in their 0-0 result at home to Werder Bremen.

The early league leaders stay third following the goalless draw, while Bremen move up to 10th.

Wolfsburg stay fourth following their 1-0 win over relegation strugglers Karlsruher.

Edin Dzeko's 38th-minute strike proved the difference at the Volkswagen Arena to send Karlsruher bottom.

Borussia Monchengladbach produced a shock when they beat title hopefuls Hamburg 4-1 at Borussia Park.

Rob Friend proved Hamburg's enemy as he gave the home side the lead on 24 minutes, before Mladen Petric equaliser five minutes later.

The Foals had the lead before half-time when right-back Tobias Levels scored in the 42nd minute.

Monchengladbach moved off the Bundesliga basement after Roel Brouwers (54) and Marko Marin's 65th minute penalty secured the emphatic victory.

Stuttgart did their European qualification hopes the world of good after beating Borussia Dortmund 2-1 at Gottlieb-Daimler Stadium.

Goals from Elson (10) and Mario Gomez (62) were enough after Nelson Valdez hit a 52nd minute equaliser to move Stuttgart up to sixth while Dortmund stay ninth.
