Loan move for Genoa striker

Alberto Gilardino has joined Bologna on a season-long loan from Genoa despite only joining the club from Fiorentina in January. The 30-year-old made 14 appearances at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris, scoring four goals, but has now been allowed to spend the coming season with the side who finished ninth in last season's Serie A. It will be the striker's sixth club of his career, having started at Verona before moving to Parma in 2002. During his three years at Parma, he became a prolific hitman, netting 50 goals in just 96 games before securing a £20million move to AC Milan. The Italian international spent a further three years at the San Siro averaging better than a goal every three games in his 94 appearances. Gilardino has represented his country 47 times and was part of the 2006 World Cup winning squad.
