Head coach may be forced to change his tactics

Genoa president Enrico Preziosi has backed head coach Pasquale Marino to succeed despite his all-out attacking style. The Rossoblu have the worst defensive record in Serie A, but remain in mid-table after winning nine games and losing as many. Marino strengthened his squad during the January transfer window after replacing Alberto Malesani as coach in late December. Genoa signed defender Roger Carvalho, midfield duo Davide Biondini and Fernando Belluschi, striker Giuseppe Sculli and most notably Alberto Gilardino from Fiorentina. The club head into this weekend's clash at home to Chievo with major injury problems and Marino may be forced to change tactics with several players sidelined. The team have only kept one clean sheet in the League since mid-November, but the president has given his full backing to Marino. He told Sky Italia: "Marino arrived a few weeks ago and this means adapting to what we have in terms of players. "We have made a few signings but there won't be any dramas this weekend. "We cannot forget that since November, the defence has never been settled."
