'Difficult negotiation' over Fiorentina striker

Genoa's sporting director Stefano Capozucca has admitted the club's interest in Fiorentina striker Alberto Gilardino, but it is a 'difficult negotiation'. Sky Sport Italia reported on Tuesday that Fiorentina had turned down a bid of €8m (£6.96m) plus full ownership of Houssine Kharja from Genoa. Marseille are also believed to be interested - offering cash plus Lucho Gonzalez - but the Viola are thought to be holding out for a cash bid of €15m (£13.06m) for Gilardino. Confirming Genoa's interest, Capozucca told ilsussidiario.net: "Gilardino is a great attacker and since we are looking for a striker, we are interested in him. "But it is a difficult negotiation." But he denied the club were planning a bid for AC Milan striker Antonio Cassano. "Nothing is true, because we never talked about the AC Milan's player," he said. Milan have been linked with a move for Genoa's Juraj Kucka but Capozucca says the midfielder will stay at the club, as will striker Rodrigo Palacio. "Kucka? The president (Enrico Preziosi) was very clear about his future: he will not move from Genoa this season, I can only confirm what the President said "Rodrigo Palacio? Also for him the matter is closed, he came to the pre-season camp to stay with us."
