Groningen moved away from the Eredivisie drop zone with an emphatic 4-1 success over Heracles Almelo.
The high-flying visitors began the game as favourites and got their noses in front courtesy of Bas Dost's 15th minute opener.
However, that was as good as it got for Heracles with Groningen squaring the contest through Leandro Bacuna minutes later.
Andreas Granqvist put the home side ahead in the contest for the first time from the penalty spot before half time.
Their onslaught continued after the break with a late brace from Slovenia international Tim Matavz adding the icing on the cake.
