Catania and Chievo confirmed that they swapped Giovanni Marchese and Gennaro Sardo on deadline day.
24-year-old left-back Marchese has been with Chievo since 2005 - but he has spent most of his time on loan, enjoying spells with Bari, Salernitana and Catania.
He has now returned to Catania in a straight loan swap - although both deals could be made permanent.
Right-back Sardo, 30, moves back to Chiveo - where he spent the latter part of last season.
Chievo also confirmed that defender Felice Piccolo has signed from Empoli, whilst striker Elvis Abbruscato has joined Torino.
