Marek Hamsik understands why Napoli are being strongly linked with a move for Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel.
Reports continue to suggest that former Reds boss Rafa Benitez, who is now in charge at Napoli, is plotting a raid on the Anfield playing ranks.
Skrtel is considered to be his top target, and the Spaniard has money to spend following the sale of Edinson Cavani to Paris St Germain in a deal reported to be worth around £55m.
Liverpool would be reluctant to part with Skrtel if an official approach is made, but Hamsik would welcome the Slovakian centre-half to Italy if a deal can be done.
He told Mediaset Premium on the ongoing rumours: "Skrtel to Napoli? I don't know, the market is not up to me.
"Sure, he is a great player and he would be good for Napoli."
Hamsik has also expressed his delight at signing a new long-term contract in Naples.
He added: "I have extended until 2018. I am very happy.
"Am I a symbol of the Napoli side? It is not about me, it's about the whole team. We are trying to do well and improve all the time."
