Konstantinos Manolas claims to have snubbed interest from Arsenal and Juventus in favour of joining Roma.

The Greece international found himself on the move over the summer after impressing at the World Cup finals.

Clubs from across Europe lodged offers for the 23-year-old defender, with Olympiakos reluctantly agreeing to sanction a sale.

In the end, it was Serie A outfit Roma who emerged victorious in the scramble for his signature as they parted with a 13million euros fee.

Manolas has, however, revealed that Arsenal and Juventus came close to securing his services, although no formal discussions were held with either club.

He told Il Tempo: “It’s true, Juventus sought me out after the World Cup.

“I could also have ended up at Arsenal. But I never went to London, as it was reported.

“Now, for me, there is only Roma. I’m very happy to have come here.”
