Benfica are hoping to barter with Juventus over the price to keep Fabrizio Miccoli at the club.

Miccoli has spent the season on loan at Benfica and there is an option in place to make it a permanent arrangement.

The Italian striker has already expressed a desire to stay in Lisbon and Benfica coach Ronald Koeman wants a deal to be struck.

But the current ‚é¼5 million (£3.5 million) asking price is causing the Portuguese giants some consternation as they are not guaranteed to qualify for next season's UEFA Champions League.

If Benfica fail to net a Champions League windfall, then reports suggest the club hope to knock down the fee.

Juventus would appear to be happy to offload Miccoli and could be amenable to Benfica's demands, with Koeman anxious for the forward to stay.

Miccoli is likely to be rewarded with a three-year contract provided Benfica can reach an accord with the Italian champions.

Blackburn Rovers have already denied an interest in the 26-year-old, who has been linked with other Premiership clubs after some impressive displays in this term's Champions League.
