European giants eye Ustari

Arsenal and Barcelona are both reportedly interested in goalkeeper Oscar Ustari.

Arsenal and Barcelona are both reportedly interested in Argentine goalkeeper Oscar Ustari.

The 20-year-old, a surprise inclusion in Jose Pekerman's World Cup squad, has won praise for his maturity and is widely tipped to become Argentina's number one before long.

Barcelona are believed to have lined up Ustari as a long-term successor for Victor Valdes, while Arsenal have also been heavily linked with a swoop for him in the Spanish and Argentine press.

His club side Independiente have not yet commented on the speculation, but Ustari has expressed his delight at the news.

"At my age it is an honour to hear that two teams like Barcelona and Arsenal are interested in me," he said.

"I don't know if it's true or not and maybe nothing will happen.

"But if this kind of news is going around it must be because there is some truth about it and that makes me feel very proud."
