Ilderton blasted by managers

Image: John Coleman: Some strange decisions

Both bosses blasted referee Eddie Ilderton for a string of controversial decisions during the draw between Morecambe and Accrington.

Stanley boss John Coleman was sent to the stands in the 1-1 draw after his side were reduced to 10 men while Morecambe chief Jim Bentley questioned a bizarre disallowed goal that would have earned his side their first victory over Stanley. Coleman, who was dismissed along with Morecambe goalkeeping coach Lee Jones in the first half after a scuffle, said: "It was a joke. We had a disagreement and someone had a go at me and I was sent to the stands which I couldn't believe. "There were some strange decisions when they were given a penalty and we didn't get one when it should have been the other way round and it was a frustrating day in terms of decisions. "I could argue against the sending off but it did change the game though I don't think anyone would have known we were the side with 10 men in the second half." The Shrimps have now never beaten Stanley in 16 attempts and will be kicking themselves for missing out in this game as they failed to make the most of their man advantage after Terry Gornell was sent off four minutes before the break. It all looked good for the home side when Kevin Ellison gave them the lead in the 25th minute. Jamie Devitt's corner was met by Ryan Edwards and his header towards goal was diverted past Scott Davies from close range. The lead lasted just three minutes however when Stanley scored a superb equaliser through defender Lloyd Jones. The Liverpool loanee collected the loose ball 30 yards from goal and sent over a cross which curled into the top corner of Danny Ward's goal. The home side started the second half well and were awarded a penalty in the 56th minute when Matty Crooks brought down Ellison but Wilson blazed the spot kick well over. Despite having 10 Stanley continued to look sharp up front and were denied a second themselves when Ryan Edwards produced a match saving block from Josh Windass's close range after good work from Piero Mingoia. Morecambe boss Bentley was furious after a Jamie Devitt goal was disallowed following a sloppy Stanley free-kick. Bentley said; "The referee said the ball didn't go its full circle but it clearly did and even the Stanley players knew it. For the referee to allow him to run 40 yards and score and then blow up was bizarre. "We have had some bad luck with decisions this year and that was another example of how we have been hurt buy them. I keep getting told they even themselves out but I'm not seeing that at the moment."
