Boss accepts Nichols dismissal

Exeter manager Paul Tisdale had no complaints with the red card shown to top scorer Tom Nichols in the 1-1 draw with Morecambe.

Tisdale's team were behind from the 17th minute when Jamie Devitt crossed for Aaron McGowan to open the scoring at the back post, but the Grecians earned a deserved share of the points when Alex Nicholls lashed home from Nichols' cross. Nichols was then sent off in stoppage time for kicking out at an opponent - Exeter's first red card of the season - and Tisdale said: "I saw the referee give him a card. That is all I saw. Apparently, he flicked out at a player. "His game was a little untidy today and perhaps he was frustrated at his game not being as tight as it usually is, but it is a soft way in which to miss three games as he will now serve a three-match suspension." On his team's performance, Tisdale said: "It was a really good game of football land valuable point, I am pleased with how we played. "I thought we controlled the game well despite a difficult breeze. They were well drilled with what they wanted to do, but they passed the ball and played well. "I thought we could have got the second goal and gone on and won the game. It was nice to have a strong bench, we are getting stronger and I had options. "It was great to bring on Alex Nicholls in that attacking right-wing role and I was delighted with Lee Holmes, who had a pretty polished debut for us." Morecambe manager Jim Bentley felt a draw was about the right result. He said: "It is a decent away point. Credit where credit's due, Exeter are a very good side. They are on a decent run at the moment, they have got good players and are one of the best footballing sides in the division. "We played some great stuff in the first half and we scored a superb goal. "We were up against the wind in the second half and they changed the shape and pushed players forward. Every time we cleared the ball it seemed to come back. But our keeper hasn't had too many saves to make and we hit them a few times on the counter-attack. "Unfortunately we have conceded a goal and the players feel like they have lost the game. But I have told them they should be proud because they are playing one of the form sides in the division. "I am proud of the lads, they gave it their all. We have got to 50 points with a few games to spare. We are five unbeaten on the road and we take a point and move on."
