Morecambe boss Jim Bentley says his side’s togetherness is the key to him winning the Sky Bet League Two Manager of the Month award for August.
The Shrimps, who began the season as one of the favourites for relegation, won their first four games to go top of the division before losing 2-1 at Tranmere last weekend to slip to third.
The Prenton Park loss was not enough to deprive Bentley of the managerial award, though, and after receiving it, he outlined the key components of his team’s flying start to the campaign.
“It’s been a good start – we’ve had a decent pre-season and we’ve taken the feelgood factor we got then into the games we’ve had so far,” Bentley told Sky Sports.
“It’s early days. We’re not one of the fancied sides but we’ve got a good togetherness and everyone works hard and we go from game-to-game.
“We’re better equipped this year and hopefully we’ll improve on last season.”
