Bentley joy at Redshaw decision

Morecambe manager Jim Bentley expressed his delight that Jack Redshaw has decided to remain at the Globe Arena.

Prior to Tuesday's victory over Oxford, the Shrimps revealed 23-year-old Redshaw had elected against moving to an unnamed League One club despite the two teams having agreed a fee.

Redshaw has scored 27 times since joining in January 2012 and Bentley knows if he continues to impress for the Shrimps, who are the surprise early pace-setters in League Two, then more clubs will be tempted to make a move.

Speaking to the media after Tuesday's game about Redshaw's proposed move, Bentley said: "We accepted it and it was a decent offer but he went and looked at it and decided at this stage in his life and his career it wasn't the right move for him.

"We're only pleased to have him back.

"He wanted to stay but I do think if he can keep turning in decent performances and getting on the scoresheet then there'll be one or two more who come after him in the future. But I'm thankful to still have him."
