Jim Bentley admitted his Morecambe team were beaten by the better side as Burton left the Globe Arena with a 1-0 victory.

On-loan Wolves winger Zeli Ismail's stunning strike, his first senior goal, from just outside the area 20 minutes from time was enough to settle a scrappy game in difficult conditions.

Bentley's charges are now without a win since Boxing Day and have slipped to 13th place in League Two.

He said: "I've got be honest, I think Burton had a little bit more know-how than us. They just had that little bit more quality and played the conditions a little bit better

"They deserved to beat us. It did take a bit of a wonder strike but as far as I'm concerned they thoroughly deserved the three points.

"It's one of those days, it's a poor pitch, it's a poor day, poor weather against a good side. They are one of the favourites for promotion and rightly so.

"We've got to dust ourselves down and stick together but we'll need to make sure we play a lot better than we did here, whether it's in terms of football or desire, aggression and determination.

"A lot of times this season it's got us results but there wasn't enough of it here to grind out a result that we need."
