Winger Jamie Devitt has had his contract with Chesterfield extended until the end of the season.

The short-term deal that Devitt signed in the summer was about to expire but the 23-year-old will now remain at the Proact Stadium as the Spireites look to clinch promotion from Sky Bet League Two. "Jamie is a great lad to have at the club and he possibly should have had more opportunities to play in the first team," said Chesterfield boss Paul Cook. "He ticks all the boxes for us and hopefully he will have more minutes on the pitch between now and the end of the season, which will see him grow as a Chesterfield player." Devitt joined the Spireites after being released by Hull. He has made eight appearances for the club this season.
