Morecambe's deal to bring former Rhyl midfielder Ryan Williams to the League Two club has been delayed.

The Shrimps agreed to sign the 21-year-old earlier in the month, but a problem with his paperwork is holding up the move.

Williams, who has trained with Jim Bentley's squad since pre-season, was offered a contract after Joe Mwasile's loan move to Workington cleared space in their budget.

Bentley told the club's official website: "As Ryan last played for a club in Wales and the move is out of the transfer window period, there have been some problems with the move, which we hope we can solve.

"We will continue to work on it with all the relevant authorities and hope to be able to see Ryan in action as soon as possible."
