Amond hails Cook legacy

Padraig Amond has praised the job done by Paul Cook at Accrington while hailing outgoing manager's influence on his own career.

Cook's departure from the Crown Ground to join Chesterfield after just eight months in charge was confirmed on Thursday evening. He re-signed Amond this summer following a successful loan spell with Stanley last season having previously managed the Irish striker at Sligo Rovers. "He's done really well at the club in the short space of time he was here," Amond said. "He's changed the club so much and he's changed it for the better which is probably his lasting legacy at the club. "People outside might not even notice but the lads involved in the club and everyone that's seen it would notice a lot. It's disappointing that he's gone, but in football everything mad happens. So you just have to get on with it and we're looking forward to Saturday already." "Obviously he's been a really big influence on my career when I was at Sligo. I've loved playing for him, it's been an absolute pleasure to play for him. He brought me back in the summer and to be honest I probably wouldn't have signed for Accrington if it wasn't for Paul Cook."
