Phillips staying at Blackpool but Ormerod on his way out

Blackpool have taken up the option to keep Kevin Phillips for another season, but fellow veteran striker Brett Ormerod has not been offered a new contract. Phillips joined the Seasiders 12 months ago from Birmingham City and the 38-year-old enjoyed his most productive season in front of goal for more than a decade as he topped the club's scoring charts with 17 in all competitions. However, Ormerod, who scored in all four divisions for Blackpool across two spells with the club, is released alongside fellow striker Daniel Bogdanovic, defender Matt Hill and midfielder Stephen Husband. Seasiders boss Ian Holloway has also decided to retain Elliot Grandin for another season, despite the midfielder spending the second half of the campaign on loan with Nice. Grandin had requested a return to his native France due to a family issue and the attacking midfielder is a surprise inclusion among the 13-strong list of players whom Blackpool have taken up the option of a further 12 months on. Keith Southern is now set for a 10th campaign in the Blackpool midfield and will be joined next term by Neal Eardley, Gary Taylor-Fletcher, Ludovic Sylvestre, Mark Halstead, Ash Eastham, Liam Tomsett, Tom Barkhuizen, Adam Dodd and Chris Kettings. Forward duo Roman Bednar and Lomana LuaLua are in discussions over their futures, while young striker Louis Almond is expected to put pen to paper shortly. Professional terms have been offered to youth-team scholars Curtis Thompson, Jamie Menagh, Matt Challoner and Alex Addai.
