Mark Hughes: Scored the goal which helped Barnet beat the drop on the final day once again

Hereford were relegated from the Football League as Barnet beat the drop, Crawley clinched promotion to League One and Crewe secured the last play-off berth on a dramatic final day.

Hereford did all they could to avoid relegation but a 3-2 home success against Torquay was not enough due to Barnet's success. Delroy Facey, Henry Bell's penalty and Rob Purdie put the Bulls in charge before the Gulls hit back through substitutes Ryan Jarvis and Taiwo Atieno, with their automatic promotion hopes ended by the defeat.

Barnet produced yet another final day great escape as they triumphed 2-1 away to Burton Albion to avoid the drop on the last day as Mark Hughes' second half strike proved crucial, while Calvin Zola missed a penalty for the hosts in the first half when the score was 1-1.

Crawley claimed the final automatic promotion berth in League Two with a tense 1-0 success away to Accrington Stanley as Scott Neilson scored the priceless goal for the visitors in the 67th minute.

Southend fought to the end in their bid to force their way into the top three but will have to settle for a play-off berth as Peter Gilbert's 24th minute strike set them on their way to a 2-0 triumph over already relegated Macclesfield with Neil Harris adding a second in the closing moments.

Seventh

Crewe claimed the point they needed to secure seventh place and the final play-off berth with a 2-2 draw at home to Aldershot, with AJ Leitch-Smith and Luke Murphy finding the net for the Railwaymen and the visitors responding through Harry Davis' own goal and Mark Molesley.

Oxford's hopes of overtaking Crewe and forcing their way into the top seven were dashed with a final day defeat at Port Vale courtesy of goals from Marc Richards, Sean Rigg and Ben Williamson.

Cheltenham go into the end of season play-offs on a winning note after a 2-1 victory over Plymouth at Home Park courtesy of goals from Steven MacLean and Marlon Pack, with Juvhel Tsoumou responding for the Pilgrims.

Champions Swindon brought the curtain down on their season with a 0-0 stalemate away to Bradford City, Charlie Lee bagged a brace for Gillingham in their 2-0 home success against Morecambe and Adebayo Akinfenwa grabbed a late equaliser in Rotherham's 1-1 draw with Northampton.

AFC Wimbledon ended their season with a 3-1 home victory against promoted Shrewsbury as Luke Moore's second-half brace added to Byron Harrison's opener, with Shane Cansdell-Sherriff on target for the visitors.

Dagenham & Redbridge finished on a high note with a comfortable 4-0 success at home to Bristol Rovers with Brian Woodall bagging a hat-trick and substitute Danny Green on target in the second period.
