Bentley beaming after victory

Morecambe boss Jim Bentley believes his side can end the season with a late play-off challenge after their 1-0 win over Southend.

A solitary goal from teenage striker Jordan Burrow earned the Shrimps a second successive home win for the first time this season. The 19-year-old, recently signed from Chesterfield, bundled home Lewis Alessandra's left-wing free-kick from close range in the 75th minute to score his first-ever Football League goal and give title-chasing Southend a second defeat in five days. "I'm delighted for Jordan because he is only a young lad and it is always a great moment to score your first Football League goal," Bentley said. "He will take the plaudits and quite rightly so but I'm sure he will be the first to point out this was a real team effort. Everyone worked really hard and showed a determination to win the game. "We've now gone four games unbeaten and you can sense there is a new spirit around the place. I've said all along we have done enough to earn something from nearly every game this season but not had a lot of luck. That seems to have turned a bit now and the results are coming which is great. "We started off the season with a great run and if we can finish it in the same way I will be delighted and we can really take heart from results like this."
