Devitt: Stanley are determined

Jamie Devitt insists Accrington's players are determined to lay Paul Cook's false start as manager to rest.

Cook took charge of Stanley for the first time on Saturday, but Plymouth Argyle made it an uncomfortable afternoon at the Crown Ground as they ran out 4-0 winners. Hull midfielder Devitt joined the Reds on loan a day earlier to become Cook's maiden signing, and is poised for a full debut at Crewe on Tuesday night having provided one of the few bright spots from the bench against Argyle. "It wasn't a great performance for his first game, but I think we'll just rally around each other and give him a good result at Crewe," Devitt told the Lancashire Evening Telegraph. "Obviously it didn't look good on Saturday but it just needs a bit of time to get to know the players more. "The manager came in and lifted everybody in the dressing room on Saturday and thank God we don't have to wait too long for the next game. We want to go out and change the last result."
